BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 18 – Mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy stand at RMB290,000-293,000/t (USD59.56-60.18/kg V) Inc-VAT delivered D/A six months now, unchanged from last week. Market transactions are mainly for direct supply to steel mills, while due to more tight supply of raw material vanadium pentoxide flake, the seesaw battle between vanadium-nitrogen alloy producers and steel mills has turned white-hot. It is expected that prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy would continue to be under adjustment in the coming week.
A producer in South China claimed that they have no stocks for sale now and the lowest price for vanadium-nitrogen alloy they can accept stands at RMB290,000/t (USD59.56/kg V) EXW D/P, unchanged from last week. “Now it is very difficult to purchase raw material, and vanadium slag is forbidden for import, leading to quite tight supply of vanadium pentoxide flake. We sent enquiries to many vanadium pentoxide flake suppliers, but all of them held no stocks. This Wednesday, we purchased 30t of vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min from a regular customer at RMB160,000/t (USD11.71/lb V) Ex-VAT EXW D/P, which was equivalent with RMB187,200/t (USD13.71/kg V) Inc-VAT EXW D/P,” the source said. He believed that prices for raw material vanadium pentoxide flake stay at high level, which will form support for vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices. He expected that prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy would keep stable weakly in the coming week.
