Largo Resources will add vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) powder to its portfolio of vanadium products produced from the Maracas Menchen mine in Brazil.
“Adding V2O5 powder production capability allows Largo to service another lucrative market segment in addition to the ferro-vanadium, vanadium master alloys and vanadium chemical (flake) sectors already being served,” president and chief executive officer Mark Smith said in a statement.
“The inherent high purity of our vanadium enables Largo to effectively expand its production capabilities to include V2O5 powder,” he added.
Largo will begin production of the V2O5 powder to service the chemical and catalyst industries in Europe, North America and Asia during the first quarter of 2018. The company indicated that it is currently being qualified by major chemical and catalyst producers in these regions.
