BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Jul 19 – Currently, mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium nitride stand at RMB185,000-188,000/t (USD34.8-35.4/kg V) EXW D/A 180 days, unchanged from last week. As mainstream steel mills have finished bids, vanadium nitride producers mainly make deliveries for concluded orders at present, and thus the market becomes quiet. Considering vanadium pentoxide flake prices showed no sign of dropping, market participants predicted prices for Chinese vanadium nitride would keep firm in the coming week.
A producer in Northwest China offers vanadium nitride at RMB188,000/t (USD35.4/kg V) EXW D/A 180 days at present, and refuses counterbids due to sufficient orders, unchanged from last week. He said, “Our output has been booked until late July, so we would not accept any counteroffers. We could deliver around 18tpd this week. Currently, the supply is relatively tight. But if possible, we might supply some spot products to regular customers with urgent demand.” He last signed an order for 60t of vanadium nitride at the price of RMB188,000/t (USD35.4/kg V) in early July. Given that vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min prices stabilize at RMB120,000/t (USD8.1/lb V) EXW D/A 180 days, the producer predicted Chinese vanadium nitride prices would be firm in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 1,200t for vanadium nitride, the company operates at full capacity now, and expects to produce 100t in July, up by 40t from June. It holds no stocks now.
A producer in South China offers vanadium nitride at RMB185,000/t (USD34.8/kg V) EXW D/A 180 days at present, and refuses counterbids, unchanged from last week. He noted, “Our output in July was booked at the price of RMB185,000/t (USD34.8/kg V), and we are now waiting for orders for August, refusing any counteroffers.” He added, “As the prices for vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min we received stabilized at RMB120,000/t (USD8.1/kg V), we have to purchase the cheaper ammonium metavanadate as the raw material so as to ensure that the costs will not be higher than the prices.” The producer predicted that Chinese vanadium nitride prices would be firm in the coming week supported by high production costs.
With an annual production capacity of 600t for vanadium nitride, the company expects to produce 50t in July, unchanged from June, and holds no stocks now.
