Welcome to the eighth annual installation of our quest to find 30 young stars in the energy sector under the age of 30. Each year, Forbes reporters spend months scouring the interwebs and hitting up our contacts to identify a new crop of compelling nominees. We send out questionnaires, build a dossier, then hand it over to our panel of expert judges, who generously share their insights on which of these precocious individuals are most likely to go on to change the world.
Every year some themes emerge. One year we had a bunch of nuclear power researchers. Another year was big for solar power innovations. This year, the focus is batteries. Nine of this year’s final 30 are directly engaged in propelling forward innovations that will make it cheaper and easier to store renewable energy when it’s produced and deploy it when needed.
