An investment of US$ 860 million (EUR 792 million) in a 650 000 tonnes-per-year rebar micro mill in the US has been approved by the board of steel giant Nucor.
The new mill, in the Pacific Northwest, will be Nucor’s fourth and largest rebar micro mill. It will have approximately 50% more production capacity than a mill currently under construction in North Carolina. Construction is expected to take two years, subject to regulatory approvals.
