MinRex Resources has appointed experienced mining executive Robert Boston as its new managing director and chief executive officer (CEO).
This will coincide with current CEO George Karageorge transitioning to non-executive chair.
Boston has worked at companies such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Poseidon Nickel in the past, where he held positions in legal, business development, strategy and commercial divisions. He is currently non-executive chair at Peak Minerals and Regener8 Resources.
“We are very pleased and excited to have Robert join MinRex, his extensive commercial experience and corporate knowledge will strengthen the board’s capabilities and skillset at this important stage of the company’s development,” Karageorge said.
MinRes owns lithium-tin-tantalum projects in the Pilbara region of WA nearby the operating mines of Pilbara Minerals and Mineral Resources.
Tom Plant has joined Australian Vanadium (AVL) as its new chief financial officer (CFO), bringing more than 30 years’ financial experience to the role.
With a strong background in debt and equity funding solutions, investment evaluation and corporate transactions, Plant was most recently interim CFO for near-term lithium producer Leo Lithium, and prior to that, was CFO of Firefinch. He also spent 10 years at Iluka Resources.
“His (Plant’s) experience in project finance and investment evaluation will be of great assistance as we progress the project,” Australian Vanadium CEO Graham Arvidson said.
“His stewardship of the financial discipline of the company will ensure that a robust team of people, processes and systems are in place for delivery of successful operations, spanning our mining operations, vanadium electrolyte facility and downstream battery opportunities.”
Plant said he was excited to step into the role.
“The energy transition is accelerating and sufficient large-scale battery storage is a critical supporting element in this process,” Plant said.
“The company’s world-class Australian Vanadium project is uniquely positioned to capitalise on the expected significant role vanadium redox flow batteries will play in delivering the required battery storage capacity.”
Interim CFO Liesl Strachan will continue to work with Australian Vanadium as it builds its financial structures.
Core Lithium has appointed Andrea Hall as a new non-executive director.
Hall has spent more than 35 years in the financial services industry, including seven years as a risk consulting partner at KPMG.
She sits on the boards of Evolution Mining, Perenti and the Fremantle Dockers in the AFL, bringing significant experience in risk management, finance, corporate and operational governance.
“Andrea is a highly respected industry leader with a distinguished career as a company director and consultant,” Core Lithium non-executive chair Greg English said.
“As Core Lithium moves from developer to established producer at the forefront of Australia’s critical minerals sector, Andrea’s skillset, industry experience and commercial acumen will be invaluable.”
Bill Beament’s Develop Global has appointed Elle Farris as general counsel and company secretary.
Farris is currently senior corporate counsel and external relations for Newmont, where she has supported global strategies for the electrification and automation of both surface and underground mining environments.
In 2022, Farris was recognised by the Minerals Council of Australia and Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia with awards for her emerging talent.
“Elle is a superb addition to the top-class team we have built at Develop,” Develop managing director Bill Beament said.
