Chinese steel sales rose 12.9% in November from a year earlier to 1.8m tonnes. Steel consumption in November was 2m tonnes, up 16.1% from a year earlier.
Brazilian steel exports in November reached 514,000 tons, down 52.8% year on year, valued at 299 million USD, down 45.1% year on year. Steel imports totaled 199,000 tons in November, up 55.3% year on year, and its worth is 195 million USD, up 24.6% year on year.
For the cumulative period from January to November 2020, Brazil’s crude steel production totaled 28.1 million tons, down 6.7 % year on year.
In the January-November period, domestic steel sales edged up 0.3% year on year to 17.4m tonnes. Apparent steel consumption in the January-November period was 19.2 million tons, down 1.2 % year on year.
Steel exports from January to November totaled 10 million tons, down 15.4 % year on year, and its worth is 4.9 billion dollars, down 27.6 % year on year. During the 11-month period, steel imports reached 1.8 million tons, down 18.4 % year-on-year, and its worth is 1.9 billion USD, down 16.3 % year-on-year.
