Eskom has said its power utility system remained constrained and vulnerable, however no loadshedding was expected on Thursday.
This as a result of a drop in demand during the holiday period and a return of some generating units into service.
Eskom said it reminded customers that as the system continued to be vulnerable and unpredictable, the possibility of load shedding remained.
It said “breakdowns were at 13 372 MW as at 07:30 this morning.”
Eskom added its technical teams would continue to monitor the situation, carrying out planned maintenance and working towards reducing unplanned breakdowns to below 9 500 KW, to enable them to minimise the possibility of loadshedding.
The power utility has also urged customers to reduce demand, as a concerted collective effort could help avoid loadshedding.
