ZANESVILLE — The Ohio Rail Development Commission has approved a $150,000 grant to AMG Vanadium to assist with developing the company’s new Muskingum County site.
The project involves more than $1.5 million in rail infrastructure, according to the ORDC. AMG broke ground on the new facility in early August, and the site is expected to be completed in 2021.
“This project is an excellent example of how best to leverage state funding to assist AMG Vanadium in their expansion efforts,” Matthew Dietrich, executive director of the ORDC, said. “This project provides a regional employer with the transportation options they need at their new facility.”
AMG Vanadium converts spent refinery catalyst to provide an alloy called ferrovanadium and other products to the carbon and stainless steel industries. The company’s based in Cambridge, and its new facility is expected to bring 100 production and management jobs to the area. The project will create about 500 temporary construction jobs as well.
The plant will be located in the Eastpointe Business Park, 2.5 miles north of Exit 157 on Interstate 70, just east of Zanesville.
