Renault Germany has announced the prices for the recently introduced new edition of the Zoe, which will be available from the end of July. The entry-level version of the little EV will have the same price but a bigger battery.
Prices in Germany start at €21,900 plus battery rental, the new longer-range Zoe Z.E. 50 with 52 kWh battery is available from €23,900. With these prices, the future entry-level version LIFE Z.E. 40 with the familiar 41 kWh battery and the 80 kW electric motor will cost the same as the previous basic model that only had a battery capacity of 22 kWh. Subject to final homologation, Renault states the range of the Z.E. 40 to be 316 kilometres according to WLTP.
With the new 52 kWh battery presented by Renault in June, the range is 390 WLTP kilometres. In the LIFE version, the new model costs at least 23,900 euros, plus the mileage-dependent battery rental. In the more comfortable Experience version, Renault offers the Zoe Z.E. 50 with two engines: The lower power 80 kW engine (sales designation R110) costs from 24,900 euros, the more powerful R135 with 100 kW costs 1,000 euros more. The top model Intens is only available with the R135 and costs from 27,900 euros in Germany.
For those who do not want to rent the battery, it will still be possible to buy it. Renault charges 8,090 euros for this, regardless of the battery capacity – i.e. for both the Z.E. 40 and the Z.E. 50. This means that the basic prices for the respective equipment are between 29,990 euros (LIFE Z.E. 40) and 35,990 euros (Intens Z.E. 50). Renault gives Zoe a guarantee of eight years or 160,000 kilometres. The battery should then still have at least 66 per cent of the initial charging capacity.
By the end of May 2019, Renault had sold around 150,000 units of the best-selling electric car. In 2018, with 40,000 new registrations, the Zoe achieved a market share of 12.8 per cent for electric vehicles in Europe. In Germany, since its market launch, more than 22,000 customers have opted for the small electric car, making it the most sold electric model in the country to date.
