ASX listed vanadium small cap, Surefire Resources, has hit the ground running at its Unaly Hill project, near Sandstone in the Murchison region of W.A.
The company has completed a single, deep, large diameter diamond drill hole targeting the three main bands of vanadium-rich titanomagnetite mineralisation at the property.
The drill core was obtained primarily for metallurgical test work and returned significant widths of the mineralisation, including 40.5 metres grading 0.36% vanadium pentoxide from 108.65m down-hole and 69.5m @ 0.42% vanadium pentoxide from 182.5m down hole.
The third ore horizon intersected a serious looking 50.8m zone going 0.55% vanadium pentoxide from 298.2m downhole, including a super impressive 9 metre high-grade section grading 0.89% vanadium pentoxide from 306m.
All three ore zones contain significant quantities of titanium oxide and iron, which can potentially be recovered into a magnetic concentrate and sold in their own right.
These grades are in line with the nearby Windimurra vanadium mine, owned by Atlantic Vanadium who boasts a remaining mineral resource of 235 million tonnes grading 0.49% vanadium pentoxide and is presently on care and maintenance.
Surefire is currently planning a comprehensive RC drilling campaign, which will infill and expand previous exploration work and advance the project towards a maiden JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate.
This will allow a high-level economic evaluation to be completed for the project.
